Powerlifting Total Performance Score Estimator

The Powerlifting Total Performance Score Estimator turns your best squat, bench press, and deadlift into a simple body-weight-adjusted performance index. It first adds the three lifts to obtain a powerlifting total, then expresses that total as a multiple of body weight and as a 100-point-style relative score.

This estimator is useful for personal tracking, informal comparisons, and seeing how a change in body weight affects the interpretation of the same total. It is deliberately not labeled as an IPF GL, DOTS, Wilks, or federation coefficient score; those systems use specific coefficients and eligibility rules that are not reproduced here. For official rankings or meet scoring, use the formula specified by the relevant federation and competition.

Body weight = athlete body mass in kilograms
Relative ratio = total expressed as a multiple of body weight

Assumptions: This is a simple relative-strength index. It does not apply sex, age, equipment, weight-class, or federation-specific coefficients and therefore should not be substituted for official scoring systems.

What the result means

A score of 500, for example, means the total equals 5.00 times body weight.

Use the same scoring method when tracking changes over time; official meet rankings may use a different formula.

Given:
Squat: 180 kg
Bench press: 120 kg
Deadlift: 220 kg
Body weight: 90 kg

Calculation:
Total = 180 + 120 + 220 = 520 kg
Relative ratio = 520 ÷ 90 = 5.7778
Performance score = 5.7778 × 100 = 577.78

Result:
577.8

Interpretation: The athlete totals about 5.78 times body weight, represented here as a relative score of 577.8.

Is this an official powerlifting score?

No. It is a transparent total-to-body-weight index, not an IPF GL, DOTS, Wilks, or federation-specific score.

Should I enter gym lifts or meet lifts?

Either can be used for personal tracking, but do not mix standards when comparing results. Meet lifts are preferable when you want competition-consistent judging.

What happens if one lift is blank?

A blank numeric field is treated as zero. That can be useful for partial comparisons, but the displayed total is not a complete powerlifting total unless all three lifts are included.

Why multiply the ratio by 100?

It makes the relative-strength ratio easier to read as a larger index. The multiplication does not add information; 577.8 corresponds directly to 5.778 times body weight.

Can I compare athletes from different weight classes with this score?

You can make an informal relative-strength comparison, but body-weight ratios do not fully equalize performance across body sizes. Official coefficient systems are designed for that specific purpose.
