The Solo Schedule Planner converts a list of work hours into a practical number of calendar days. It accounts for daily work capacity, fixed daily commitments, and a planning buffer, then estimates the finish day count and the average scheduled work per day.

This is useful when one person needs to turn an effort estimate into a realistic timetable. It can support project promises, study plans, service delivery, and personal goals where the calendar must reflect more than raw task hours.

The result rounds up to the next whole workday so all buffered work fits.

Net daily capacity = Hours available per day − Fixed time per day
Buffered work = Required work × (1 + Schedule buffer ÷ 100)
Workdays required = Buffered work ÷ Net daily capacity, rounded up
Calendar weeks = Workdays required ÷ Workdays per week

What the result means

The main result is the minimum whole number of workdays needed under the entered daily capacity and buffer.

The planner does not place work on specific dates or account for holidays; it converts effort into workdays and weeks.

Given: 42 required hours, 8 available hours per day, 2 fixed hours per day, a 20% buffer, and 5 workdays per week.

Calculation: Net daily capacity = 8 − 2 = 6 hours. Buffered work = 42 × 1.20 = 50.4 hours. Workdays = 50.4 ÷ 6 = 8.4, rounded up to 9. Weeks = 9 ÷ 5 = 1.8.

Result: Plan for 9 workdays, or about 1.8 workweeks.

Why are workdays rounded up?

A partial final day still occupies a workday on the schedule. Rounding up ensures the entire buffered workload has time assigned.

Can fixed daily time be greater than daily availability?

No. That would leave zero or negative capacity for the planned work, so the calculator reports an error.

Should weekends be included?

Set workdays per week to the number of days you actually intend to work. The week estimate uses that value.

Does the buffer replace a contingency task list?

No. The buffer adds time but does not identify specific risks or extra tasks. Add known work directly to required hours.

How is this different from a deadline planner?

This planner estimates duration from work and capacity. A deadline planner starts from a fixed deadline and determines the pace needed to meet it.
