Horse Feed Dose Schedule Planner

The Horse Feed Dose Schedule Planner organizes a user-specified supplement, additive, or measured feed portion into a recurring schedule. Enter the amount used at each administration, how many administrations occur per day, and the number of days in the plan. The calculator totals the number of administrations and the amount of product required, then compares that requirement with the package quantity on hand.

This is intended for inventory and schedule planning after an appropriate amount has already been established by a feed label, veterinarian, equine nutrition professional, or existing management protocol. It does not select a product, diagnose a condition, or recommend a dose. The planner is particularly useful for checking whether a tub, bag, syringe, or other package will last through a planned course and for translating a daily routine into a total purchasing quantity.

1. Enter the established amount per administration
Use the quantity from the relevant label or professional feeding plan. The planner does not determine the amount.

2. Enter administrations per day
Specify how many times the measured amount is given during a day. Decimals are supported for averaged planning frequencies.

3. Set the plan length
Enter the number of days for which you want to organize or purchase product.

4. Enter product on hand
Provide the package or inventory quantity in grams to compare supply with the calculated requirement.

5. Check total administrations and coverage
Review the total count, grams required, daily usage, remaining amount, and approximate days of supply.

Total administrations = Administrations per day × Plan days

Daily product use = Amount per administration × Administrations per day

Product required = Daily product use × Plan days

Days supply = Product on hand ÷ Daily product use

The calculator schedules the quantity you enter; it does not establish a safe or nutritionally appropriate supplement dose.

What the result means

The main result is the total number of planned administrations across the selected number of days.

Follow applicable feed-label directions and professional guidance for the actual product amount, frequency, and duration.

Given:
25 g per administration; 2 administrations/day; 30 days; 2,000 g on hand.

Calculation:
Total administrations = 2 × 30 = 60. Daily use = 25 × 2 = 50 g. Required = 50 × 30 = 1,500 g. Days supply = 2,000 ÷ 50 = 40 days.

Result:
60 administrations requiring 1,500 g total, leaving 500 g.

Interpretation:
The available 2,000 g package covers the 30-day plan and provides about 10 additional days at the same entered usage rate.

Does this planner tell me what supplement dose to use?

No. The amount must come from an appropriate label, veterinarian, nutrition professional, or established feeding protocol.

Can I plan a once-every-other-day schedule?

You can enter 0.5 administrations per day for an averaged quantity plan. If exact calendar dates matter, use a calendar-based schedule rather than relying only on an average frequency.

Why can the administration count include decimals?

The tool allows averaged frequencies, so a non-integer count can appear for some combinations. For real-world scheduling, round only according to the actual protocol rather than automatically changing the entered plan.

What units should I use?

This page uses grams for both the per-administration amount and inventory. Keep both inputs in the same unit so the quantity comparison is valid.

Does days supply account for spills or measuring loss?

No. It is a straight division of inventory by calculated daily use. Add a buffer separately if product loss is expected.
